About the pub
With much of the food provided by Helen Browning’s organic farm all round this village, and the food prepared by Liz Franklin (Ready Steady Cook, plus 13 of her own cook books), this is no ordinary pub. Sitting on a single track lane in Bishopstone, where Wiltshire and Oxfordshire and Berkshire meet, it’s part nice beer and good whiskies and wine, and part food showcase for the organic farm business that owns it.

Awards
We’re thrilled to be in the Good Food Guide (2010) for the first time, with a cooking score of 3/10, which those in the know say is a strong start. Being in the guide means you are rated as in the top 1% of places to eat in the UK. Not bad for a place that had its kitchen condemned the day we walked in at the end of 2006.   Michelin’s Good Food in Pubs 2010 continues to rate us, and says we’re getting even better! Smug.
