Details: Unicorn Grocery is a co-operative, working closely with Manchester producers to offer organic (and some non-organic) fruit, vegetables and wholefoods.

Based in Chortlon, Manchester, this shop offers a very convivial atmosphere for people to do their weekly fruit and veg shop, infinitely preferable to the supermarket alternative!

Aside from fruit and veg, they offer some deli foods, hummus, olives etc, booze, bakery goods, ready made salads - and even some eco-friendly beauty products! Unicorn also specialise in dairy-free, gluten-free and sugar-free products.

Of their organic/ non-organic produce they say "We stock over 1,000 other organic lines. In line with our policy of wholefood at a fair price we will only stock organic products when we can sell them at a reasonable price, i.e. products on which the organic premium is at a sensible level. On some products we are still waiting for a sensibly priced organic alternative. "

Registered with the Soil Association, Unicorn buys organic produce only from certified growers and suppliers, working with quite a few UK growers, including Glebelands Market Garden in nearby Sale, and Newfield Organics in the North York Moors.
