Descended from an ancient and hardy breed, our Dexter cattle have been  fed solely on herb-rich cliff and grass-lands. They have been intorduced to Penare in conjunction with the National Trust with the aim of improving the diversity and natural habitat on the Dodman Point.

The beef enterprise has been accredited with the Freedom Foods Certification and customers can be asured that the animals are kept to the highest standards of welfare.

Grass-reared beef has been shown by research in America and Britain to be naturally higher in omega-3 fatty acids than beef from cattle fed on cereal-supplemented diets.

There is increasing interest in naturally-produced food for health and ethical reasons.We believe that this interest will grow as more people actually taste the difference and demand the best quality available.

Dexter beef from Penare is a perfect example of how tasty and succulent traditionally-reared beef should be.
