Oslinc - home of the Lincolnshire Ostrich
Ostrich is low in fat, cholesterol and calories, it is tender and easy to cook, what are you waiting for?
Our Birds and their welfare
We have 27 Breeding Ostriches at White House Farm which are kept in Trios - one male to two females. Each trio has its own field, surrounded by hedgerows.
The females lay their eggs in a sand pit in the middle of each field, one egg every other day during the season
Six weeks later the chicks hatch - they are the size of a small chicken.
Once hatched they are transferred to our specialist Ostrich Nursery, and are carefully looked after by the family. They are put into groups of between 10 and 12 and stay in this family group for the rest of their lives.
At three months old the Ostriches are transferred into the surrounding fields. Here they live, peacefully grazing in the Lincolnshire countryside.
