Our Organic Chicken
The flocks of free-range chickens are a traditional breed, based on the Light Sussex, and are kept in groups of about 100. Their diet is an organic cereal based pellet which is fed outside ad-lib. The hen houses are mobile, so they can be moved to fresh ground regularly. The chickens free-range over the farm and mature slowly at their natural pace, depending on how much they have supplemented their food with foraging. All the chickens are hand-plucked and dressed on our farm, so there is no stress of travelling.
